Kalamkaval teaser and release date: “He is not a good soul,” Mammootty said about his character in Kalamkaval during a recent interview. While this alone was enough for Malayalam movie audiences to eagerly await the upcoming crime thriller, given the jaw-dropping performances the megastar has delivered in grey-shaded roles over the years, the makers have now unveiled a new pre-release teaser that has turned up the heat to unimaginable levels.

Unlike the trailer, which deliberately avoided offering too many glimpses of Mammootty’s character and reduced his physical presence to just a stunning silhouette at the end, this new teaser provides ample snippets of the roles played by both him and Vinayakan. Adding fuel to rumours that the Malayalam megastar may be portraying a serial killer in the movie likely inspired by the real-life notorious criminal Mohan Kumar alias Cyanide Mohan the 54-second promo video opens by showing a board with photos of missing women. Against the backdrop of a thrilling score, we hear a voiceover featuring dialogues from the victims’ relatives.

The teaser then cuts to show Vinayakan’s character, a police officer, wearing a serious demeanour. However, we hear him saying, “Later on, killing became an addiction for me.” Hold on, what does that mean? Are Mammootty and Vinayakan two sides of the same coin? With this line by Vinayakan as voiceover, we are introduced to Mammootty’s character, standing beneath a windmill and looking around to see if someone is watching him.

As the teaser progresses, we see him yet again, this time in another location, seemingly waiting for someone’s arrival. “What gives the greatest pleasure is killing a human being,” he proclaims, as Mammootty arrives on screen for the last time, sporting an eerie, devilish smile, thus setting the stage for a never-before-seen experience.
