YouTubers Alanna Panday and her husband, Ivor McCray, recently stepped out to assess and shortlist raw materials for the renovation of their new five-bedroom house. In their latest vlog, the couple took viewers along on an extensive shopping spree that included marble, refrigerators, and stoves—some of which came with eye-watering price tags ranging from Rs 60 lakh to nearly Rs 1 crore.
At the beginning of the vlog, Alanna shared, “We are officially shopping for all the raw materials we will need for the renovation—stone, marble, flooring, and appliances. It’s going to be a long week of shopping.” To this, Ivor quickly added with a laugh, “All the expensive stuff!” Agreeing with him, Alanna explained, “If you’re wondering where your money really flies during a renovation, it’s when you start buying the raw material.”
Ivor then revealed the reasoning behind opting for premium-quality materials. “It’s going to increase the value of our home,” he said, adding, “Yes, this is the house we’re going to live in, but it’s also an investment, so we are looking at it from that angle.” He further noted, “We are trying to keep it within a budget, but if we have to go a little over because the material is better, we are okay with that.”
Their first stop was a marble store boasting over 5,000 options. After browsing through several slabs, they paused at a marble priced at $7,000 per slab—approximately Rs 6.32 lakh. Alanna shared, “It’s $7,000 per slab, and we need five for the kitchen and five for the bathroom,” which brings the total to $70,000 (around Rs 63 lakh). Reacting humorously, Ivor joked, “Awesome, I am going to put a donation link at the bottom of the video.”
However, the couple clarified that this wasn’t their final choice, as they still had appointments at three other marble stores. They planned to shortlist five different marbles and make a final decision after carefully comparing quality, design and pricing.
Next, they headed out to shop for kitchen appliances. Alanna said, “We’re on our way to shop for appliances for our kitchen—everything we want, including the fridge, stove, and dishwasher.” Ivor quipped, “I didn’t know a fridge could cost as much as a car. The fridge we want costs the same as my first car.”

After exploring multiple options, the couple settled on a Thermador refrigerator priced at $16,000 (Rs 14.4 lakh). Explaining her choice, Alanna said, “We’re paneling our appliances. I just like how it looks—it will blend in with the cabinets.”
They then moved on to stove shopping, where Alanna instantly fell in love with a luxury model. “This is what I am going to get,” she said, with Ivor agreeing that it looked impressive. The couple began guessing the price, with Ivor estimating $40,000 and Alanna guessing between $30,000 and 35,000—until a store representative revealed it cost either $90,000 or $120,000 (Rs 81.2 lakh to Rs 1.1 crore). Reacting instantly, Ivor exclaimed, “That’s ridiculous,” while Alanna was left speechless.
Eventually, they moved on to more practical stove options priced around $12,000 (Rs 10.8 lakh), though they did not reveal which one they finally purchased. Wrapping up the appliance shopping, Ivor concluded, “We like the Thermador fridge, so we will be getting that.” Alanna added, “We are definitely not getting the G-Wagon stove.”
The couple then went flooring shopping. Referring to an earlier vlog, Alanna reiterated that they were looking for light oak flooring. While they finalised the marble for the kitchen and bathrooms, they chose not to disclose its price, promising viewers a detailed look at the renovation process in their upcoming video.
