Dhurandhar Box Office Collection Day 1: All the clamour and conversation around the Aditya Dhar directorial Dhurandhar seems to have worked, as the Ranveer Singh-starrer has gotten off to a strong start at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 27 crore on its first day at the theatres.

Even though this is the start one would expect from a multi-starrer, big-budget movie like Dhurandhar, the box office is unpredictable, which makes these opening day numbers quite impressive, considering that until a day before the release, the film was expected to open at just Rs 15 crore. The opening has set up the actioner for what can prove to be a very lucrative opening weekend, where they can rake in the maximum amount of money.
While Dhurandhar’s opening day numbers are impressive, the film still finds itself behind some of the other ‘big’ films of recent times. Ranveer’s last release as the lead hero, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, opened at Rs 11.1 crore, and went on to make over Rs 153 crore in India. This year, Dhurandhar has had the third biggest opening of the year after War 2 and Chhaava. War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, made Rs 52 crore on its opening day, out of which Rs 29 crore was in Hindi, and the rest of it was majorly from the Telugu version. Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, made Rs 31 crore on its opening day. For Ranveer, this is his biggest opener to date. Previously, this title was held by the 2018 film Simmba, which made around Rs 20 crore on its release day.

Dhurandhar has around 6200 shows in India, and the occupancy on opening day was around 34 percent. There wasn’t much buzz in the morning and afternoon shows, but later in the day, the evening and night shows witnessed an occupancy of around 36 and 56 percent respectively.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the cast of Dhurandhar includes Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and R Madhavan.
