Kusha Kapila started her journey in the entertainment industry as a content creator, and eventually went on to try her hand at acting, but this past year, she established herself as an entrepreneur as she launched her shapewear brand Underneat. In a new chat, the founders of the brand, Kusha and Vimarsh Razdan, revealed that they have now raised $6 million in a pre series A funding round, within 8 months of launching the company. Kusha also spoke about her future plans with the brand as she shared that she wants Farah Khan to be a part of it.

In a chat with CNBC TV 18, it was revealed that the company has raised money from Fireside Ventures, after their launch in April. They also claimed to be EBITDA positive and said that they have crossed Rs 150 crore in ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue). Kusha shared that she was was “extremely passionate” about this category and wanted to provide “better innerwear for Indian women” based on her personal experience. Vimarsh added that they made an intentional decision to enter the “mass premium category” as they wanted to approach a larger number of women.

Talking about her future plans, Kusha said that she wants to “take over the complete top drawer in a woman’s wardrobe. I want to have every product there by Underneat.” She then added, “I would love to have Farah Khan be a part of Underneat. I feel like she reaches out to such an interesting audience and she’s having such a great moment online.”

Talking about the funds that the company has raised, the founders said that they want to use those in “scaling operations, strengthening distribution channels across cities in India.” Kusha said that they are getting a lot of requests from men for a special line for them under the brand, and hinted that they might be thinking about branching in that direction in the future.

Underneat is not the only entrepreneurial venture for Kusha. She is also the co-founder of a restaurant named Torte, in Gurgaon, which she co-founded with Rhea Wadhawan.
