Stressing that there would be no compromise in providing safe drinking water to residents, Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner K. Mayur Ashok on Saturday directed the officials to keep a strict vigil against the contamination of drinking water.
During an extensive inspection of Srinagar, Sarada Colony, Sanjeevaiah Nagar, Sugali Colony and Sivanagaraju Colony, the Municipal Commissioner reviewed the development works and drinking water supply systems. He issued a series of instructions to the officials.
Mr. Ashok ordered a special audit of drinking water pipelines in every ward secretariat jurisdiction to identify stretches located close to drainage lines and examine them technically to prevent contamination. He made ammonia testing mandatory in all suspected areas and instructed officials to upload every water quality and amenity test results to the designated portal.
Taking serious note of a drinking water pipeline found passing through a drain in Sugali Colony, Mr. Mayur Ashok directed the Superintending Engineer to issue a show-cause notice to the amenities secretary concerned for alleged negligence in this regard.
Inspecting a reservoir in Sarada Colony, Mr. Ashok instructed officials to remove unnecessary materials from the premises, maintain hygiene and conduct regular chlorine tests with proper documentation.
He ordered planning officials to clear construction debris from roads and ensure cleanliness in vacant sites and residential surroundings.
