Addressing the media at the Kerala House in New Delhi Friday, Dr Resul Pookutty, who recently took charge as the chairperson of the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy, said the festival has grown into a “film school in motion” over the past three decades — one that now hopes to build international partnerships while strengthening the ecosystem that shaped contemporary Malayalam cinema’s creative confidence. Academy’s Vice-Chairperson Kuku Parameswaran, Secretary Ajoy Chandran, and Kerala Working Journalists’ Delhi President Prasoon S Kandath were also present at the event.
The IFFK will showcase over 200 films from nearly 70 countries this year. Screenings will take place at 16 theatres, with one theatre added to facilitate the burgeoning crowd.
