SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’ release: Is Mahesh Babu-Priyanka Chopra starrer facing a delay? Here’s what we know

Ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli is working on his grand upcoming film ‘Varanasi’ starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithiviraj Sukumaran. The film remains one of the most anticipated projects due to its sheer production scale and being a SS Rajamouli film. As the makers have announced that the film will be released next year in April, recently there have been rumours that the film will be pushed ahead.

‘Varanasi’ right on track

In the last few days, rumours circulated that the film might not arrive on its announced release date. However, those rumours have now been put to rest. A report by 123Telugu, the film’s unit, has confirmed that there is no change in the release schedule. The film is moving ahead as planned, and the team is continuing production without any delay.It is revealed that the makers have not changed their plans and that Varanasi is still firmly locked for its April 7, 2027 release.

About ‘Varanasi’

Speaking of ‘Varanasi’, the film is a time-travel adventure drama set in the holy city of Varanasi. The story follows the city as it faces the arrival of a massive asteroid that threatens its future. It shows Mahesh Babu as Rudra who is a devotee of Lord Shiva. Interestingly, the Tollywood superstar will play Lord Rama in a special mythological sequence within the film. The film also marks global icon Priyanka Chopra’s much-awaited return to Indian cinema. She will be seen as Mandakini. Recently, the makers also unveiled her look from the film on her birthday.Meanwhile, Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the main antagonist as Kumbha.Oscar-winning music composer MM Keeravani who received global fame for the energetic hit ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’ is also composing the music of the film.The film is said to be made on a budget of Rs 1300-1400 crore.
