The mainlanders view this demand as constitutional but illogical, because they see it as seeking for greater autonomy only. Sir. It's about reclaiming our land back. Our land that was never part of bengal. Our land that ancestors built for us. Under the state bengal, the region was isolated, people deprived of their autonomous powers, attempt by the state to impose bengali language in 2017, and now the state anthem. How do the tribals, the indigenous population sing that anthem which is neither in our language, nor rooted in our culture, history, tradition.
This is like killing our identity. Killing our rich heritage. Killing our customs. All because Darjeeling is under bengal?
